An action RPG set in a dark fantasy world. It has been developed by the Japanese From Software studio, known from e.g. Ninja Blade, Demon’s Souls, and the Armored Core series. The story of Dark Souls takes place in a grim universe, greatly resembling the medieval age. The plot in scarcely depicted, and the players take role of an undead character, whose actions will shape the fate of the world. The game is a third-person perspective hack-and-slash. In a manner befitting a sandbox game, players are given a lot of freedom at exploring locations and undertaking various tasks. The game stands out with its high difficulty level and complex multiplayer mode.

An expansion to the popular MMORPG – The Lord of the Rings Online: Shadows of Angmar developed by Turbine Entertainment. The story of this add-on focuses on the powerful wizard known to many as Saruman, who is trying to come into possession of the Ring of Power. During the game, the player can visit new locations such as the gigantic tower of Orthanc, from where the wizard issues the orders for his minions, territories of Dunland inhabited by belligerent Dunlendings, and the Gap of Rohan. The Lord of the Rings Online: Rise of Isengard introduces also a new multiplayer instance designed for twenty-four players, who are tasked with defeating a powerful dragon called Draigoch – the largest adversary ever featured in The Lord of the Rings Online. The Rise of Isengard expansion introduces also a number of new story missions and new pieces of equipment. Moreover, the level cap has been raised to 75. The players can also enjoy the modified versions of all the available character classes.

A downloadable content for Dragon Age II, the second installment of the popular fantasy RPG series created by BioWare. Dragon Age II: Mark of the Assassin introduces a new character that can join our party—an elven assassin named Tallis who is modeled after and voiced by Felicia Day. With her appearance, the player has an opportunity to take part in a new adventure that focuses on a magic relict called the Heart of the Many. The heroes have to find this rare item, which is no small task since it was apparently hidden in an Orlaisian baron’s estate. Mark of the Assassin allows the players to visit a new outside of Kirkwall, encounter new enemies, and make use of an expanded weapon arsenal, among other things. Gameplay-wise, Mark of the Assassin bases on the solutions of the vanilla Dragon Age II, so it is still a real-time party-based RPG with active pause.

In search for the lost champion of the Legion, our heroes end up on the Aranoi desert. In almost no time it is revealed that the desert is full of secrets like the legendary treasure of the Azunite faith hidden in the forgotten abbey. The expansion introduces new offensive, defensive, and healing skills, and allows the players to retrieve skill points spent on specialization and talents in order to reuse them. We will encounter new types of enemies and gather new pieces of equipment. We can also modify our armors with the help of magical potions that we will get by transmuting items. Treasures of the Sun increases the level cap to 35.

You play as a man, an elf or a dwarf, fighting the forces of Sauron and participating in the events in the norther part of Middle-Earth, happening concurrently to the main story of the Lord of the Rings novel. Depending on your chosen character, the gameplay mechanics vary slightly, and you use different abilities. The story unfolds depending on your choices, enabling us to do many sidequests. Of course, your character can level up and gain new useful abilities. The game can be completed in a three-person co-op mode or in a singleplayer mode, in which you are supported by AI-controlled party members.

The 18th expansion to the MMORPG EverQuest. This time we visit a new continent – Alaris. Hidden behind a magical barrier, for centuries it served as a shelter for gods who have left it to defeat the God of Fear. However, their actions resulted in the disappearance of the titular veil, opening a new land to adventurers from the entire world. EverQuest: Veil of Alaris offers more than 110 new quests and 20 missions, as well as 13 raids. The add-on also raises upper limit of experience, meaning the players can now reach level 95. Additionally, Daybreak Game Company decided to implement refreshed interface, with the biggest novelty being the so called Hotbar System that can be used to personalize options and item windows. Guilds can also change the appearance of their headquarters, adding furniture and decorations, giving ranks and titles to their members and awarding them with trophies. Lastly, DLC introduces an option of sharing items and currency with offline players.

EverQuest II: Age of Discovery is the 8th DLC for a MMORPG called EverQuest II, well-known and regarded since 2004. The expansion was developed by Daybreak Game Company, people who also developed the original game in 1999, and have been maintaining the franchise ever since. Contrary to the previous expansion, this one doesn’t introduce new locations, focusing on tweaking the gameplay mechanics instead. The greatest novelty is the so-called Dungeon Master mode, which allows for creating custom dungeons and sharing them online. Apart from that, a character class well-known from the first game returns with this DLC, namely the Beastlord. EverQuest II: Age of Discovery also introduces a possibility of reforging items, allowing the player to enhance them with totally new stats.

The game lets you choose between the dark or the light side of the Force and create a unique avatar, selecting from 8 available classes. Gameplay focuses on exploration, combat, and developing your hero’s skills, although much emphasis is put on the story presented in the distinctive BioWare style. It is possible to play solo, but the game’s essence is about playing together with friends. The game lets you join a team and either complete story-related missions together or compete against others in one of PvP modes. A great deal of vast locations – both well-known to the Star Wars fans as well as brand new ones – await to be explored.
